Performance

Powering the new Trailblazer are two engine options. There's a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine and a turbocharged 1.3-liter three-cylinder. The former produces 137 horsepower, is attached to a continuously variable transmission (CVT), and offers front-wheel drive. While the latter outputs 155 horsepower and has all-wheel drive.

Technology & Safety

The Trailblazer is equipped with advanced technology in every trim, even if the base LS model's features are somewhat basic. Coming standard in the LS is an 11-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration and a six-speaker audio system. Higher trims like the LT, ACTIV, and RS offer more robust features like wireless phone charging, heated front seats, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Not only is the Trailblazer well-equipped, but it is safe to drive, too, as Chevy has given the SUV a bevy of advanced driver-aids. Standard safety features include forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection and lane-keeping assistance. More advanced tech, such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic warning, are available but offered in optional packages.

Fuel Economy

In testing, the EPA found that models equipped with front-wheel drive get an estimated 29 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway, offering a combined 31 mpg. Models who utilize all-wheel dip in efficiency earning an estimated 26 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, for a combined 27 mpg.

DESIGN

From the outside, the Trailblazer is nice to look at, with curved lines and thin headlights. Step into the cabin, and the interior reveals itself to be spacious and outfitted with plenty of convenience features. Drivers will find the driving position sits as high as an SUV should, and passengers will find there's enough to seat two adults in the back comfortably.

As you look around the cabin, you'll find most of it is covered in black plastic, but its design makes it feel attractive and never cheap. The attractiveness only continues in higher trims as these models feature colored trim pieces and chrome embellishments, giving a more upscale appearance.

Along with a spacious and well-adorned cabin, the Trailblazer offers plenty of cargo space. Behind the rear seats are 25.3 cubic feet of space, allowing plenty of room for items like groceries or luggage. And with the seats folded, the space is even larger at 54.4 cubic feet, allowing for larger items to be stowed.
